FROM
VISIONING TO OPERATIONS: A FLOW CHART FOR SUCCESS |
Tuesday, 1:30-2:30PM
Brownfield development begins with visioning... and never really
ends! Property development is an iterative process with major steps
defined as: organizing the effort, forming the concept, selecting
the alternative,
making the deal, construction and operations. In this session, key
players
in the development process will address these major steps... and
the
interactions in between.

FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT PARTNERS: MORE THAN JUST EPA |
Tuesday, 8:30-10:00AM
When you think of the federal agencies involved in the cleanup
and reuse of contaminated properties the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) quickly comes to mind. The EPA’s Superfund Program,
while very important in the response to very hazardous properties,
had been considered for years a barrier to transactions concerning
lesser contaminated properties. EPA has responded with its own Brownfields
Program providing federal funds to communities for redevelopment.
But don’t stop there. Dozens of federal agencies have their
own programs to encourage the redevelopment of brownfields including
the Economic Development Administration (EDA) and Housing and Urban
Development (HUD). In this session the various federal partners
in brownfield redevelopment will be identified and their programs
reviewed to make sure you have all the available resources for your
use.
