HIGHLIGHTS FROM PAST EVENTS November 9, 2011 - Technical Society Fair
November 3, 2011- University Panel Breakfast Over 100 guests turned out for this breakfast meeting at the Pittsburgh Engineers' Building, home of ESWP to hear representatives from several local universities discuss their upcoming plans for capital improvements. October 4, 2011 PennDOT Secretary Barry Schoch spoke to a packed room on October 4, 2011 at the ESWP. Secretary Schoch spoke about the new plans for the Department in light of his recent appointment as Secretary. District 11 Executive Dan Cessna provided the introduction of the Secretary. August 17, 2011 - ESWP Tailgate Party at PNC Park Over 40+ ESWP members and guests enjoyed a picture perfect evening at the ESWP Pirate Game and tailgate party. June 23, 2011 The ESWP Program Committee held a tour of the MarkWest gas processing plant on June 23. More than 40 engineers attended the event and were given a full tour of the plant, which is located in Houston, PA. Tour participants arrived at a secure parking area and were transported by bus to the 190 acre complex. MarkWest Operations Manager Greg Sullivan conducted the tour, along with several other plant employees. A special thanks to Doug Clark of Civil & Environmental Consultants for arranging the tour! November 17, 2010 Tour of Marcellus Drill Sites ESWP Members toured two Marcellus Drill Sites in Washington County, on a tour sponsored by Range Resources. One of Range’s drill sites were actively drilling a well to a depth between 7-8,00 feet, and the other site was fully drilled and in the fracturing process during our visit. The tour was led by Range Resource engineers, who answered the many questions posed by the attendees. Everyone left the tour with a better understanding of the technical advances and issues involved in the Marcellus Shale natural gas industryNovember 5, 2010 Site Tour of Port Authority North Shore Connector Fifty members of ESWP enjoyed a guided tour in and out of the Port Authority North Shore Connector Tunnel on November 5. The tour was led by Jim Bintrim of Tri-Gold who detailed the impressive project for the group. The tour covered the end point on the above-ground station at Heinz Field thru the new Gateway Center station in the heart of the golden triangle. The group was able to walk the entire tunnel including a stop on the under-ground North Shore station. The ESWP Program Committee extends our appreciation to TriGold and the Port Authority for hosting this visit. CONSOL ARENA TOUR - SATURDAY, MARCH 20, 2010 ESWP members and guests entered the new Consol Arena on the floor (ice) level to a very impressive structure
